In 1947, Belmont United Methodist Church opened one of the first church-based preschools in Tennessee. The program, currently known as Belmont Weekday School, was established to provide education for pre-school aged children.
The State of Tennessee Department of Human Services licenses Belmont Weekday School. The Weekday School has also achieved the highest recognition the State of Tennessee awards: a Three Star Rating.
Each week the children participate in play based learning guided by the Tennessee Early Learning Developmental standards and enhanced by additional music classes. Our Pre-K students also receive additional enrichment during foreign language class each week. These enrichment experiences are included in monthly tuition costs. As additional enrichment not included in tuition, we offer soccer and dance once a week to children three and up.
We are proud to continue the fine tradition of this nurturing ministry that began over 70 years ago. We look forward to educating and serving children throughout the years to come.

We Love Our Work & We Love Where We Work
Belmont Weekday School is a wonderful place for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age to be engaged, challenged, and cared for. Providing an environment filled with thrilling educational opportunities is something we look forward to daily. More than 73 years after its birth, Belmont Weekday School continues to provide a nurturing, safe place where children can thrive and learn.
Our school has eight bright and inviting classrooms with large windows and lots of natural light, a library of shelves filled with developmentally appropriate books on diverse topics, a teacher resource room with helpful curriculum guidance, child size furniture, and developmentally appropriate toys and play materials in each classroom.
We are very fortunate to have an indoor gymnasium; this allows the students to work on gross motor development when weather prohibits us from being outside. Outside, we have two age appropriate playgrounds. One for children ages 6 weeks – 30 months on the south side and one for 31 months – 5 years on the north side. Children are taken outside in groups of compatible ages.
Performances and graduation also make use of the church’s sanctuary and community center. Without question BWDS has all the necessary facility resources to make your child’s preschool experience a great one! The Belmont Weekday School is the perfect choice for your family. Our outstanding and nurturing teachers have our students’ best interest at heart, but don’t take our word for it, ask any of our present or past families!
